try using software that recover files from hard disk ( even after you have formatted it many times) then place the memory card in the PC card reader and basically treat it has a Hard disk . maybe that should work

It depends, if the file saved later is using the space originally occupied by old file, then it will not be recoverable, otherwise you can recover 1st data back use data recovery software.
Use asoftech photo recovery to have a try and you will know whether it is recoverable.
